Dr. Sami Fahmy, Ph.D., P. Eng, PMP, RMP, CCM, CSM, DASM, CBC+, DTM.

Dr. Sami Fahmy is founder and president of Performance Excellence Institute, a project management consulting and training firm focusing on project management and communication skills training and development.

Dr. Fahmy has extensive experience as a professor and instructor, has taught Project Management courses at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), University of Calgary, PMI (Edmonton PMI Chapter). He is retire U of A Adjunct professor, taught several Project Management courses at the University of Alberta for 10 years. Courses include Engineering Project Management, Project Risk Management, and Interpersonal Communication Skills for Project Managers. He also taught Project Construction Management graduate course with the University of Calgary for three years and University of Alberta for one year.

Dr. Fahmy research interest covers a wide variety of areas including, project delivery Systems, risk management, quality management, interpersonal communication skills, construction management and contract administration Dr. Fahmy is a Civil Engineer by education and a Project Manager by education and training.

Dr. Fahmy is a professional engineer, has more than 40 years of PM practical experience covering a wide range of Project Management and technical areas. He managed hundreds of projects of varying sizes and complexity including traditional delivery design bid build, construction management and design/build projects. Examples of project covered: Post offices, schools, hospitals, nursing stations, RCMP police stations and subdivision, Shooting ranges, houses and apartment blocks, major commercial kitchen renovations, and Aircraft hangers.

Dr. Fahmy started his career overseas working with a general contractor/consulting firm for about 7 years. He then joined Public Works and Government Services Canada. He is now retired after 30 years of service with Federal Government. In his long service he dealt with many clients, each with their specific needs and requirements. In the last 7 years of his services with the Government, he was responsible for the training and development program of about 150 PWGSC Project Managers. In his position as a trainer, he provides workshops and group presentations covering a wide variety of project management subjects as well as one-on-one coaching and Mentoring.

Dr. Fahmy is a former Global Registered Educational Provider (R.E.P) with the Project Management Institute (PMI). He earned his PMP designation from PMI in 1999. Since then, he has been very active in the delivery of project management training programs including PMP exam preparation workshops. He is now authorized training partner with PMI.

Dr. Fahmy earned his Ph.D. Degree from University of Calgary in project management specialization in Design/Build Project Delivery System. Since then, he has been providing project delivery courses and consulting services in various types of Project Delivery Systems.

He is presently providing consulting services and guidance to owners, consultants and contractors on several issues such as: development and implementation of project management systems, formation of project management office, training gap analysis, risk management.

He is a speaker and recognized expert in the field of project management and project risk management and project communication management.

He has written papers, and given many presentations and seminars for professional associations, conferences, and clients on topics.
